Why Chaulks?
those who have known me for years have heard the story of where this oddly spelled sn originated.
back in the days when AIM was the hot flavor of the moment, I had just started out in youth ministry and one of the teens was showing me the wonders of Instant Messaging. I was at work and was setting up my account and when I had to coming up with a screen name, I encountered writers block. I didn’t want a stupid name… I was an “adult” ! newly minted from my college days! and I didn’t want some boring cognate of my name so I closed my eyes… and just let my fingers do the typing… and out came CHAULKS!
so I thought… why not! later on, I decided to add a philosophical spin to it and said that just like when kids used to play with chalk on the sidewalk or blacktop, and write or draw all sorts of things on the pavement, it all disappears when it rains… and so too it seems these electronic chalk marks are sent over the web..
anyhoo… who am i?
Formerly from NY/NJ and now in the Bay Area where I’m the English Pastor at the Silicon Valley Alliance Church. Before this, I was in the FI world bouncing between Wall Street and Park Ave. When God called me to F/T ministry, I headed up to Boston for my serminary training at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Its been an incredible ride and all I can say is God is Good. He is Faithful; even when I am Not. Praise be the LORD.
